Nordic Playlist heads to Nuuk Nordisk Kulturfestival!
By Francine Gorman
Launched in January 2014, the Nordic Playlist is a website which thrives on promoting the fantastic, innovative and inspiring music being created by artists within the Nordic region.
Musicians of the North
We all know how exciting, how unique and how continually creative the musicians of the North are, and now, with music streaming services becoming ever more popular, Nordic music is more accessible than ever before.
So how can music fans discover Nordic music in a digital space which is packed full of new and emerging music from around the world, constantly updated, and growing ever more busy? Well, that’s where the Nordic Playlist comes in…
The Nordic Playlist works closely with artists, festivals, and trusted tastemakers to create hand-picked playlists recommending music from throughout the Nordic region. Each playlist can be discovered, heard and shared on Spotify, Deezer and TIDAL, and whenever we can, we take the Nordic Playlist out to the public, hosting live Radio Bars, parties, talks and events to spread our playlists and the Nordic music that we’re representing as far and as wide as we possibly can. Head to www.nordicplaylist.com now to see and hear what we’ve been up to in recent months!
With an archive of more than 80 Nordic Playlists curated by the likes of Of Monsters & Men, Lykke Li, Trentemøller, Nive Nilsen, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Teitur and Erlend Øye, the Nordic Playlist provides a tailor-made, pan-Nordic listening experience, as well as presenting exclusive DJ mixes from some of the region’s most exciting artists and a way to find out who’s topping the Nordic charts in our dedicated pop corner, Trenda!
Nordic Playlist gives access to the world
Be it the bustling, chart-topping pop of Sweden, the iridescent originality of Reykjavík’s thriving indie scene or the energetic punk of Copenhagen’s club scene, the Nordic Playlist travels far and wide to find the finest Nordic music, and to make it easily accessible to a worldwide audience.
Nuuk Nordisk Kulturfestival
As such, we’re very excited to be bringing the Nordic Playlist to Nuuk Nordisk Kulturfestival this month to continue this journey, to meet musicians working within the Greenlandic music scene, to watch them perform live and to listen intently to the stories behind the creativity of the nation’s artists.
The Nordic Playlist’s editor Francine Gorman will be in Nuuk throughout the event, creating exclusive content with Greenland’s most exciting artists to make sure that music fans around the world are easily able to access the fantastic sounds being created by the Greenlandic music community.
If you’d like to find out more, please join the website’s editor Francine Gorman at 3pm on the 23rd October for a discussion around the Nordic Playlist.
